Solving organisation challenges using skill sharing

Prioritising potential sites for Mobility Hubs in Oxfordshire.

The challenge

Oxfordshire faces increasing transportation demands and the need for sustainable mobility solutions. The challenge was to identify optimal locations for mobility hubs (sites of interchange between two or more modes of transport) that would:

  • enhance connectivity
  • reduce congestion
  • promote the use of eco-friendly transportation options

An extensive list of potential sites was available, but prioritising from 400 sites required a new approach.

The solution

To address this challenge, we conducted extensive stakeholder engagement to gather insights and ensure the selected sites met the needs of all users. We involved internal and external stakeholders such as:

  • bus operators
  • car club companies
  • transportation experts

This engagement, combined with the Oxfordshire County Council Mobility Hubs strategy, helped us develop robust criteria for site selection. We scored potential sites based on the established criteria through detailed analysis and problem-solving sessions.

The results

The project identified several high-potential sites for mobility hubs. We chose these sites strategically to maximise accessibility and connectivity while minimising environmental impact. The stakeholder engagement process and policy review ensured broad support for the selected sites, and the thorough evaluation provided strong foundational criteria for future implementation.
